Your Role: You are the testing coordinator for the local elementary school. In your role as testing coordinator, part of your job is to inform parents how to “read” their child’s standardized test scores.
<
<
The presentation must contain the following (at a minimum- you can add more and I encourage you to do so!).
<
<
Introduction: Remember your role! Who are you and why are you providing this workshop?
<
What is a test score?
<
Primary Purpose of Standardized Tests
<
Test Score Formats (norm referenced, scale score, percentile rank, stanine, content mastery score)
<
Example of reading a test score (your choice of test format- norm referenced, scale, etc)
<
Other information you want to share.
<
Closing slide with conclusion and contact information for the parent for further questions.
<
For the presentation, think of your school whether it is a real school or one that you are going to “make up!”
<
<
What are the school colors? Use these colors throughout the presentation.
<
Make up a mascot and use the image throughout the presentation.
<
Personalize the presentation! Are you a high school or elementary school? This should change the “feel” of the presentation. For example, an elementary school presentation would have colors, small children in the used in images, etc. A high school presentation might see the use of the mascot and school mission or motto.
<
Some things to remember-
<
<
Limit the amount of text on a slide.
<
Check all spelling and grammar
<
Check all capitalization. Be consistent in use.
