I’m doing a Masters of Teaching (Early Childhood) in Victoria, Australia. This is for the second part of my assignment, a written report. The first part was to make a video presentation of a resource kit that supports language and literacy in 3-5 year olds. I have attached the video below, it contains all 5 resources that I created for the resource kit. It’s a 7.5 minute video.
For the report, you’ll have to do 5 things.
1 – Theoretical rationale for choosing each resource – must use the works of Halliday, Wilkinson and/or Tough (oral language theorists, you can find their works on google scholar. If you can’t, let me know and I’ll find a way to send you their work) to frame the discussion.
2 – Say how each resource supports oral language and early literacy for the children and must mention how it supports children of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds (English as second language learners).
3 – Connections to Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) Outcomes. This is just choosing outcomes that connect to each resource and saying how it reaches it. I’ve attached the EYLF document below and it covers all 5 Outcomes but you must choose the subheadings, not the headings. In page 3 of the document, you will see the content table, which shows you the 5 outcomes and their subheadings.
4 – Name the potential learning outcomes that can come out of each resource for the 3-5 year old children (such as, learning outcomes that are highlighted in the developmental milestones for 3-5 year olds, i have attached the developmental milestones document below).
5 – Teaching strategies that you will use for each resource kit. I have attached a link that describes some teaching strategies such as co-construction, scaffolding, modelling and questioning (i’ve attached 2 pdf documents that highlight different styles of questions you could use, including open ended questioning that can be used to stimulate thought and creativity).This report requires 8 references, at least 5 must be from the course and can include EYLF, Developmental Milestones, Codes of Conduct, the 3 oral language theorists and their works and more. I will attach some links in the message box to help you with this report and you can use them as references too. But you’ll need to source at least 2 from outside the course material.
I’ve also attached an assessment guide and i’ve highlighted in a green box, the steps needed for this report.
